Update on Rodrigo Muniz injury at Al Ahli
Rodrigo Muniz, the Brazilian forward who plays for Al Ahli in the Emirati club's first season in the UAE Pro League, has sustained a serious knee injury that requires surgery.
The news was confirmed by Al Ahli's official Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon, stating that Muniz had undergone a "successful operation" and would be out for six months.
Muniz is one of the most promising young talents in the sport, having made his professional debut with Al Ahli last year and scoring two goals in three matches.
However, the Brazilian forward has suffered multiple injuries over the past few years, including a broken leg in 2019 and a hamstring injury in 2020.
The latest setback comes after he returned to action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a back problem.
Despite the setback, Al Ahli manager, Paulo Sousa, remains confident that Muniz will recover from the injury and return to full fitness soon.

However, the club is hoping that they can still compete in the league this season without him.
Meanwhile, Muniz's teammates have been sending their best wishes to him and hoping that he will make a swift recovery.
"I'm really upset for my friend Rodrigo," said teammate, Adel Taieb. "But I'm sure he'll be back soon and we'll be better off with him in our team."
The club also plans to announce a new player in Muniz's place as soon as possible, but for now, everyone is keeping their fingers crossed that Muniz will recover from his injury soon.
